“If I seem too passionate, it’s because I care. If I come on strong, it’s because I feel strongly. And if I push too hard, it’s because things aren’t moving fast enough.”
– Leslie Knope,

Hey there! I’m Amanda, and welcome to The Comms Mom.
I’ve been in communications-related positions for 20 or so years now, and I’ve had a great career, earning 24 industry awards and securing coverage on/in “Good Morning America,” Forbes, Inc., CNN Money, Parents Magazine, USA Today and U.S. News & World Report along the way.
In addition, I have a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California (where I also earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Public Relations) and have spent time as both a full-time assistant professor and adjunct instructor, counseling and mentoring hundreds of students as they start (or expand) their own careers.
Together with my hubby, Doug, we’re the proud parents of two amazing little girls, Avery and Shelby. Like many working moms, I was conflicted about returning back to work after having my first daughter (you can read about my winding career path here), but I’m happy to have finally found an ebb and flow that works best for me and my family.
I hope you’ll join me in conversations centered around our careers, travel and well-being, and I look forward to sharing resources and tools to help you–personally and professionally–in your life.
